What is an attainment level?

We use attainment levels to describe the difficulty and complexity of each objective in Sparx. All classes will need to have an attainment level linked to them which will then determine the default level of initial homework in Sparx homework only schools, or the default level of lesson objectives in Sparx Lessons if they are being used.

To change the attainment level for a class:

  1. Go to Class Manager
  2. Click on the orange pencil icon next to a particular class
  3. Adjust the Attainment level using the dropdown menu
  4. Click Save, to save your changes.
 
Use the following descriptors to help you choose the best level for your classes:

KS3

1 suitable for students requiring a lot of support
2 for those requiring extra support
3 suitable for most students
4 for students who'd need more challenging material.

GCSE & Edexcel A

1: This level should be suitable for students expected to take the Foundation tier paper who require additional support.
2: This level should be suitable for most students expected to take the Foundation tier paper.
3: This level should be suitable for students on the borderline between the Foundation and Higher tier papers.
4: This level should be suitable for most students expected to take the Higher tier paper.
5: This level should be suitable for students expected to take the Higher tier paper who are aiming for the highest grades.

Edexcel B

1: This level should be suitable for students who require additional support.
2: This level should be suitable for most students.
3: This level should be suitable for students who are aiming for the highest grades.

Cambridge:

1: This level should be suitable for students expected to take the Core tier paper who require additional support.
2: This level should be suitable for most students expected to take the Core tier paper.
3: This level should be suitable for students on the borderline between the Core and Extended tier papers.
4: This level should be suitable for most students expected to take the Extended tier paper.
5: This level should be suitable for students expected to take the Extended tier paper who are aiming for the highest grades.

OxfordAQA

1: This level should be suitable for students expected to take the Core tier paper who require additional support.
2: This level should be suitable for most students expected to take the Core tier paper.
3: This level should be suitable for students on the borderline between the Core and Extension tier papers.
4: This level should be suitable for most students expected to take the Extension tier paper.
5: This level should be suitable for students expected to take the Extension tier paper who are aiming for the highest grades.
