        Below are the common mistakes that students make when trying to log in

        If you use Google or Microsoft in your school then enabling Single Sign On will reduce login issues. Find out how to do this in our article: Setting up Single Sign-On (SSO)

        1. Trying to log in to the wrong site

        • Check that students are logging in to the correct school where it says You're logging into Sparx at School Name
        • If the school is incorrect, it can be changed by clicking the blue Not your school? text:

        2. Using an incorrect password

        • If a student has forgotten their password, they should click Forgotten Sparx login details? and input their name and date of birth
        • This will notify you that they need their password reset, and you can do this by clicking the link in your email or on the alert on Student Manager

        Go to Resetting a student's password for more information on how to do this.

        • Once a student's password has been reset, they should click Forgotten Sparx login details? and input their name and date of birth again. They will now be able to set a new password and log in successfully, as shown in the gif below:

        Note: if a student has tried to log in too many times they will be locked out until a time limit has passed*.
        You can trigger a password reset for the student in the Student Manager to remove this time limit.

        *Sparx adds this limit on too many incorrect attempts in order to protect your students' personal data against malicious login attempts.

        3. Using school login details rather than Sparx login details

        • Some students may get confused about which login details to use with Sparx, especially if they are new to the school and have been given a lot of new login details in a short space of time
        • Check students are using their Sparx login details or Set up Single Sign-on for your school

        4. Trying to log in before they have created their account

        • Students must create an account when they use Sparx for the first time. If they have not done this then they won't be able to log in
        • Find out how they do this in Setting up a new student account

        5. Using the wrong date of birth when creating their account

        • When students first create their account they need to use their date of birth, so check they are typing this correctly
        • Dates of birth are taken from your school's MIS, so if they are still having problems then check it is saved correctly in your MIS
