Updating students and classes in a new academic year (using MIS connection)
At the beginning of every academic year, there are some things you’ll need to do in order to get your classes and students ready for the new academic year.
When we move your school from one year to the next in Sparx Maths the following things will happen automatically:
- All of last year’s classes will be removed from your Sparx Maths site
- As there won’t be any classes, all of your students will be temporarily removed from Sparx Maths
- Your students won't be able to log in to Sparx Maths until you’ve reimported them
- We'll remember their progress and XP points for when they are reimported
To get your classes and students ready you will now need to do the following:
1. Import your classes for the new academic year
Go to Class Manager under More on the left of your screen
Click the Import & Manage Classes button
We will show your Maths classes by default, and you can easily search to find other classes
Tick the classes that you’d like to use Sparx Maths, and then click the arrow in the middle to move them over to the right-hand side.
When you’re ready to import your selected classes, click the Preview changes button.
You will now see a preview of the changes that will be made in Sparx Maths if you proceed with the import. If you're happy that everything looks as expected, click Sync changes.
These students are now in classes and will be able to log in to Sparx Maths again using their existing usernames and passwords.
Please note that they won’t see last year’s homework. They’ll need to wait until their first homework of the new year is generated, or they can start using independent learning straight away.
2. Complete class setup for the new academic year
You can now complete the setup of these classes (e.g. setting a scheme of learning and homework hand-out/-in days). See ourSetting up classes (using MIS link) article for more information.
