      Supporting low attaining students

        Article summary

Sparx Maths supports students who are not secondary-ready. We have content specifically written for students who achieve a scaled score of between 80 and 99 in their Key Stage 2 maths exam. Non-secondary-ready students have made up around 20% of each of our incoming Year 7 cohorts to date.

Our Fundamentals topics are specifically aimed at students requiring extrasupport or intervention in order to access standard Key Stage 3 material and can be added to any Scheme of Learning. Find out more about Fundamentals in our article What curricula are covered by Sparx?

If, however, a student has been deemed too weak to sit a Key Stage 2 maths exam or failed to achieve a scaled score of 80 in Maths, Sparx may not be right for them. In this case, we would recommend setting them alternative homework at their level.
