        How do I set the last homework of the academic year?

            By 'End of the academic year' we mean when your year groups change. This is different to the end of term, which is when students go on holiday. E.g. in the UK, the end of the academic year is usually August 31st, but the end of term is around July 25th.

            You want your last homework due in before the last week of the academic year

            • Use these instructions if you want the last homework to be due in on or before the last week of term
            • Use the No Homework option to manage when your last homework is due, which you can do in the Scheme of Learning or in the Planner for each class.

            Scenario 1: You normally set homework one week and have it due in the next

            Set the week you want the homework due in to a no homework week, and do the same for all remaining weeks of the academic year.

            Scenario 2: You normally set and have homework due in during the same week

            Leave the week you want homework due as a normal homework week, but set all of the remaining weeks of the academic year to no homework weeks.

            You want your last homework due in during the last week of the academic year

            • Use these instructions if want homework to be set during the summer holidays (UK)
            • Homework can't be due in during a different academic year to the one that it is set in.
            • To set homework right until the end of the academic year (normally the summer holidays in the UK) make sure all of the holiday weeks have homework turned on and Sparx will automatically set a no-homework week at the end of your academic year if needed. 
            • Your last homework will be due on the last available due date before the new academic year.
            Always check your Planner for each class once you have made your changes to see if the homework will be set or stopped when you want it to be

            You can choose what type of homework you want to set

            Whether you've chosen to set homework in the holidays or not, you might want to think about the following points when setting the last homeworks of the year for your students:

            Do you want to give them topics you've chosen or just consolidation?

            You can add topics to the Planner in the normal way, or just leave the weeks blank if you'd like Sparx to generate consolidation homework only.

            Do you want to give them Compulsory or Optional only homework?

            You can change the homework type to Optional only if you'd like to give students the choice about whether they do the homework or not, and where parent emails will not be sent.

            Do you want to turn parent emails off?

            If you give students Compulsory homework during the holidays, you can choose to turn Parent emails off. Don't forget to put these back on again in the new academic year as this will not happen automatically.
